About Variety - The Children's Charity (Boat for Hope)

Boat for Hope is a long standing initiative within the British Columbia boating community that supports Variety – the Children’s Charity of BC. For more than 25 years, volunteer skippers, marine businesses, yacht clubs, sponsors, and industry partners have come together to create a safe, inclusive, and unforgettable experience for children with complex health needs and their families.

Each June, approximately 25 volunteer vessels, transformed into pirate ships, welcome more than 400 children aboard for a coordinated on water adventure in False Creek. When siblings, caregivers, and family members are included, Boat for Hope hosts more than 1,000 participants throughout the day. Since 1999, the event has created lasting memories for more than 10,000 children across British Columbia.

The event is thoughtfully planned and delivered in partnership with the marine community to ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone involved. Boat for Hope proudly showcases the strength, generosity, and collaborative spirit of the boating industry while highlighting the meaningful impact our community can have when we come together with a shared purpose.
