    Boating BC Association has a short-term, eight-week contract, commencing in June 2018.


    The Association is launching a public outreach and education campaign targeted at the recreational boating community to aid in preventing the abandonment of boats. This project is part of Transport Canada’s Abandoned Boats Program; an initiative of the federal government’s Oceans Protection Plan.


    As part of the project, Boating BC is looking for a contractor to assist in identifying all boat disposal and recycling services that currently exist in the following areas: Vancouver Island, Sunshine Coast, Greater Vancouver, Fraser Valley and Okanagan regions. We are offering a short-term contract for the right individual who can compile this resource on our behalf. Most, if not all, of the work can be conducted from any location by phone and internet; we do not anticipate much, if any, travel to be required.


    Interested parties are invited to submit a proposal including the following:

    • Qualifications and relevant experience
    • References
    • Project Outline and Approach
    • Timeline
    • Budget

    Contract deliverables include:

    • A thorough report of boat disposal and recycling businesses in the regions listed above, including each businesses location and contact information.
    • A brief description of each business or service, how long they’ve been in business, what permits they possess, what other services they offer and any other information that can help inform local boaters in that region.
    • A summary of any additional findings that can help to inform the Abandoned Boats Program such as areas where no services are currently available, challenges, issues or concerns faced by this sector, and other general observations and learnings.

    The successful individual does not have to be employed in the recreational marine industry, but industry experience would be considered an asset. They will be expected to work at their own place of business and use their own business equipment.
    The project will be awarded by June 15th and must be completed in 8-10 weeks once the successful candidate is confirmed.
