FIRST GLENN SPARTZ SCHOLARSHIP'S ARE AWARDED

Earlier this year, Boating BC announced the Glenn Spartz Scholarship in response to the ongoing need for qualified technicians in the recreational marine industry. The scholarship offers financial aid to students pursuing their Marine Mechanical Technician Apprenticeship (MMT) offered at BCIT’s Annacis Island campus, and is an industry initiative with contributing partners from the marine propulsion sector including: BRP/Evinrude, Honda Marine, Yamaha, Volvo Penta, Mercury Marine and Yanmar/Land Sea Power.

We are very pleased to announce the first four scholarship recipients: Joseph Cervantes (New Westminster), Derek Fairclough (Mission), Darryl Stanley (Surrey) and Nicholas Meakin (Peachland). There are tremendous opportunities ahead for all of our scholarship recipients, who will be starting in Level One of the MMT program this fall.

Scholarship applications are still being accepted for individuals applying for the Level Two intake into the MMT program at BCIT, which commences in January, 2017. The application deadline is September 23, 2016.

To apply, or to learn more about the MMT program and the Glenn Spartz Scholarship, you'll find full details here.
